On going life liberation practices:

Sending funds to the California sangha for sea life releases:
Robert Betonte and the California Sangha do intelligent and safe animal liberations with fish, shrimp and crab every month. They have been
practicing this long enough to know exactly which animals will survive in the bay. All the sea life they release are native and are released back
into their natural habitat.  Robert Betonte also releases brine shrimp into the San Francisco Bay in his monthly SoJin practice. The number of
brine shrimp he releases regularly exceeds two million, brine shrimp help regulate and equalize the oceans ecology and are very helpful in
general oceanic habitat restoration. By saving them he also prevents them from getting eaten up as aquarium food~

This is an excellent way to contribute to something close by. The next  sea life release will be held on the 25th of December.  Large Shrimp $70
for 500. Small bait fish $180 for 500... any donation amount helps...
If you wish to participate in this option please send your funds to:
betonte.r@gmail.com via PAYPAL

please send him an email though stating what the donation is for as he has several activities he is running and will not know what
goes where~

What is happening for Sojin?
Sojin Current Requests
Sojin
Here is a page where we list the most recent Sojin activites and/or requests from Adz*om Rinpoche
concerning life releases. At this time Rinpoche has very specific requests for all his sangha.
So please everyone is welcome~

Right now we are focusing our efforts on conscious eating.... please see bellow

Also Robert Betonte is still holding on going sea life liberations in the bay area~ this is always a
good cause to donate funds towards.
Worms...cheap and slimy!
Yup they are always good to release.... that is if there is no snow on the ground~
Worms get killed by hooks that end up killing fish so freeing them saves two~ and improves the soil....
Bait worms can be bought almost anywhere were there are rivers, streams, lakes or ocean...so even though these little sentients are cheap
and slimy, like any good soul set them free~!
Adz*om Rinpoche's current Sojin activities and advice: 2010/11

The season for slaughtering animals such as cows and sheep has arrived. In connection with last year’s Amitabha Festival, Rinpoche
and his monastery facilitated in freeing 1 billion captive animals last ZhingDrub. This year they will continue to free animals, and would
like to start another and even more effective freeing activity, which is asking people stop eating meat and maintain a vegetarian diet.

Rinpoche said this would be more effective because it cut
s the root of killing animals.  By having vegetarian foods and thus saving lives
of animals, obstacle to our own liberation will be cleared away. Other benefits of giving up meat and maintaining a vegetarian diet,
Rinpoche's teaches, are that it actually protects the world and helps to keep our body healthy. For people who practice Dharma,
vegetarian food clears our channels and helps give rise to wisdom. It also protects our commitments and facilitates meditation. A very
important factor in Dharma, Rinpoche teaches, is compassion. He invites all students to put ourselves in animals' position and speak for
them. This is some of what he said:

"Kind and wise people, please listen to me. To make our body stout, we deal with animals' bodies at discretion as if they are just goods or
even rubbish. Yet in fact their bodies and lives are the same as ours. They are friendless and helpless, and no one comes to save them
at their time of greatest need."

Nowadays people are not willing to consider even other human’s suffering (let alone the suffering of animals). To meditate on this could
be very good for us.

At present our Gongchen temple is inviting temples and institutions to join the "Listening to Creatures Project" compassionately saving
the lives of animals. All the institutions which agree to join will have their names listed as participants in this activity. We are asking them
write up your activities related with protecting animals and advocating vegetarian food.

We are also inviting individuals to register as a vegetarian through internet, mobile phone and any other possible way. Rinpoche has
made speeches to motivate this activity, describing the benefits for stopping meat-eating and he has answered many frequently-asked
questions on having vegetarian diet.

On November. 27, when Zhingdrub ends, our Gongchen temple will dedicate the virtue we have achieved during Zhingdrub to all the
participants in this project, as well as all other sentient beings.

Since not everyone can commit to being vegetarian for their entire lifetime, we offer various ways in which you can join in the Zhingdrub’s
vegetarian observance:

 * Being a vegetarian for one day or more during this year’s Zhingdrub (Nov.14-Nov.27).
 * Being a vegetarian for 3 months following the Festival.
 * Being a vegetarian for 6 months following the Festival.
 * Being a vegetarian for 1 year following the Festival
 * Being a vegetarian for 2 days a month (Tibetan calendar 1 and 15 every month) for 1 year following the Festival
 * Being a vegetarian for 6 days in a month (Tibetan calendar 8, 14, 15, 23, 28, 29 or 8, 14, 15, 23, 29, 30 every month) for 1 year
   following the Festival
 * Being a vegetarian for 10 days in a month (Tibetan calendar 1, 8, 14, 15, 18, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29 or 1, 8, 14, 15, 18, 23, 24, 28, 29, 30
every month) for 1 year following the Festival
 * Being a vegetarian for life following the Festival

If you wish to donate towards any of these projects or contact us with your vegetarian pledges please email us through this website~

OM AH HUNG!! Adz*om Rinpoche's most recent mass yak and sheep exodus! Rinpoche saved hundreds of yak and sheep from slaughter by buying
them up from butchers and bringing them home. The rainbow strips on their horns means they have been bought by Rinpoche... the last photo shows
them walking through town on their way to a happier life!
